What to bring to Camp
MEDICAL SUPPLIES: Circle of Life Camp will provide all campers with diabetes supplies, including, blood glucose monitors, insulin, syringes, lancets, etc. Although we have backup pump supplies, we ask that if you wear a pump, that you please bring two extra change-out sets (resevoir and infusion set or pod) in their original sealed packages, please bring all prescription medications other than insulin.
CLOTHING: Bring clothes appropriate to the weather, include warm clothes for cold nights and a bathing suit. There is no need to bring anything dressy or expensive. PLEASE MARK EVERY ITEM WITH YOUR NAME.
Count on two changse of clothes for each day you will be at camp. Clothing items to include are:
- blouses or shirts
- long pants (at least one pair)
- jacket, sweater, or sweatshirt for cool nights
- swim suit(s) – MUST be modest, no “string” swimsuits will be allowed
- shorts
- socks, and extra socks - A MUST
- undergarments
- sneakers and flip-flops to wear in the shower and at the beach
- raincoat/poncho
- sleepwear – MUST be modest
DRESS CODE: Please DO NOT bring or wear the following:
- “string” swimsuits (if this is all you own, bring a t-shirt to wear over it);
- excessively exposed or low-cut tops;
- pants/shorts that either ride up or sag to the point of exposing
undergarments;
- clothing with inappropriate writing (vulgar language)
Appropriate undergarments must be worn at all times (except at the beach). A good rule of thumb: if you can’t wear it at school, most likely
it is not appropriate for camp.
A reminder that laundry facilities are NOT available to campers. A few personal articles may be washed by the counselor if absolutely necessary.
TOILET ARTICLES (in a small bag or case would be helpful):
- bath soap
- prescription medication (given to nurse upon arrival)
- toothbrush and paste
- brush/comb
- shampoo/conditioner, etc.
- personal articles
- twin sheets and a blankets AND/OR
- sleeping bag
- pillow and case(s)
- bath towels (at least two - one for bathing, one for beach)
- wash cloth(s)

- flashlight, extra batteries for the flashlight
- insect repellant
- sunscreen
- a book to read during rest time

- inexpensive or disposible camera

- expensive clothing, jewelry, other personal articles
- ipods
- radios, electronic computer games, tape players/recorders
- GUM
- food (we provide all the food you will need, including snacks and low food)
