In an effort to fill the healthcare gap in diabetes education and support, the family weekend is planned at an indoor waterpark where families can enjoy recreational time together while meeting other families living with the same disease, as well as participate in optional diabetes education sessions. The educational workshops offered throughout the weekend will focus on Pumping and New Technologies, Psychosocial Issues and School, Fitness & Nutrition, Current Research Advance in Diabetes, and the Family and Diabetes.

The Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark is located 45 minutes north of Albany, NY in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains. It includes the White Water Bay, which is a 38,000-square foot indoor waterpark featuring water slides, a lazy river, a family raft ride, a multi-level play structure, and a surfing area! Additional art and craft activities, games, and characters from the Looney Tunes are also there. Hotel accommodations include a traditional suite that can accommodate as many as six guests with two queen-six beds and a pullout sofa.
